Over ANZAC weekend Ferrymead Heritage Park will be hosting a military display to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the outbreak of WWI for 25th, 26th and 27th April. Highlights to include: Military Vehicle displays Military Weapons displays Military Uniforms displays Replica Anderson Air raid shelter walkthrough display. Replica WWI trench walkthrough display. Military Model competition. Military Art competition. Themed Troop Train. Photos and Military decorations. Battle Simulation ** Saturday and Sunday Only More Details Here. The Ferrymead Aeronautical Society workshops and display areas (except the Viscount and LC47H - still off limits pending insurance repairs )will be open all three days, with volunteers on hand to take you through the exhibits and restoration projects. Good to see some Ferrymead news. I have tried to visit several times but always missed the open days. Can anybody suggest when is the best time to go for the aviation side. It would also be good to know what projects they have underway or waiting to be done.

Saturdays are the best days to visit. If you would like a personalised tour through the workshops, drop me a PM and we will arrange a time. Currently the Sunderland, Harvard, Mossie, Viscount, Hudson, Hughes 300 and Hiller 12 projects are being worked on. The LC47, Pawnee and Airtruk are dormant at this point. Once the chopper boys finish the current two they will start on the FH1100.
