Interesting photo - I had never really studied the Hoover Dam apart from learning some of the claimed highlights and achievements (which I forget right now) but you can see the intakes mid upper left to be discharged central left under water. It is probably still being assembled internally keeping the dam level low by the bypass tunnel. You can also see an access road tunnel mid bottom left as well to get to the generator hall - the round arch tunnel.
It makes you wonder how this photo was taken... possibly from another plane or??

Also recently published online by the Los Angeles Times is an archive photograph essay of firefighters attacking a burning DC-6 which had crashed onto a golf course adjacent to Van Nuys Airport (now called Bob Hope Airport) in southern California. The DC-6 in question was the prototype (military) Douglas YC-112A which was built for the US Air Force. A few months later, the civil DC-6 prototype flew. After extensive testing with the US Air Force, the YC-112A was registered as a civil DC-6 and sold to Mercer Airlines, which whom it eventually met its fiery end at Van Nuys on 8th February 1976. CLICK HERE to view the photograph essay about the demise of the prototype DC-6; and CLICK HERE to read an accident description, with a link to download the full NTSB report being on the same webpage.

Were they into "introducing" flying aircraft into new scenic shots showing interesting backgrounds in those days? To me it looks very much as if it has been faked in the darkroom with scissors and paste, using a cutout of the required type of aircraft. Compare shadows on aircraft, then those on dam. David D

I agree David, the DC-3 photo looks faked to me.
