They would indeed make a great warbird and aerobatic team and the Plastic Rats sounds just fine. I was at the auction of the RAAF CT.4s and they are doing sterling service all over the place now. Cunning Bloody Kiwis taking our idea, improving it, modifying it and selling it back to us....... Watch this space !

So did the owners rectify the wing structural issues that saw them all grounded a year ago that sparked the seemingly almost panicked response by the Air Force to get a deal signed for replacements within weeks of the grounding? Or will these issues be ongoing and problematic for future users of these aircraft?

Apparently, since introduction to service, 190 pilots have trained and graduated on the CT4E

I remember someone in Christchurch cheering when they heard that the Harvards were going from Wigram to be replaced by these new little aeroplanes(won't it be nice and peaceful), they changed their tune a few weeks later, these Airtrainers are a Bl**dy site worse, they make just about as much noise, and take twice as long to do a circuit. How many hours per year/ or total time would the CT-4s have done, I don't imagine them putting on hours like our(Rural)Cessna 185s, at times we saw them in once a week for 50hr or 100hr inspection. isc

Anyone fancy a CT4E? There is a bunch of them parked up at Hamilton behind Aeromotive. Take your pick. My last flight in one of these was back in 1994 (PAC's prototype registered ZK -EUN at the time) I haven't heard any scuttlebutt about what is happening to them yet. Has anyone else got an idea or at least heard a rumour?

Re activating this thread to see if anyone has any updates on the disposal or otherwise of our Airtrainers?

Can there be two companies registered with the same name?
Interestingly Google Maps does not have a Cresco Lane in New Zealand either.

Although all appear to be re-registered with their original civil marks (except one) none appear to have been on-sold. There was a suggestion that they had been moved to Hastings. Can anyone confirm? I do love a little mystery

I was at Napier in January and one of the CT-4Es, ZK-PTH, was parked out. I understand that the rest of the batch are stored inside there. I was told that a friend of a friend rang up PAC to see if he could buy one, last year. He was quoted 350K. Needless to say he lost interest at that point.

All we need now is a Sherlock Holmes to get into the hangar and confirm they are all still there. Next question is when did they get ferried to Napier
