Worked a treat then.
I did enjoy some of the content of Pac Wings, but the decline in its New Zealand coverage was concerning. Rob even was kind enough to publish one of my articles.

As I see it Pacific Wings suffered three major problems. (1) A decline in advertisers in a changing market where most major aeronautical companies now prefer to advertise on-line. (2) Its decline in local content. Many of the articles published in recent years were esoteric and therefore would appeal to a smaller market. (3) Failure to pay contributors. Their is minimal incentive to spend hours researching and writing articles for a commercial publication for its owner(s) to reap the rewards. I have an involvement with a well known American aviation publication which not so long ago changed hands with the new owner/editor opting to not pay the contributors. Where my contributions once went on a waiting list the editor is now contacting me to see if I have any suitable material. That speaks volumes.
I contributed to NZ Wings/Pacific Wings for 35 years but was never paid for any published work over the last 10 years. I only continued to contribute through patriotism.

If you like me and you enjoyed the old NZ Wings they do have an archive of the old issues on their website, the old articles are still brilliant.
NZ Wings was always my first choice for an aviation magazine, then once it started having more Helicopter subjects I drifted to Australian Aviation.
Hopefully a group can get together and change the the name back to NZ Wings and start sorting out the content, there are plenty of people who would contribute.

I certainly enjoyed NZ Wings for almost 40 years, but the lack of NZ content and the inclusion of past Wings articles to fill out the magazine finally forced me to give it up. Over the years I have contributed several articles and have a few more, especially visiting military aircraft photographs, I could submit which would be of interest to readers. However, until things change I won't be resubscribing nor submitting articles. Bring back NZ Wings I say.

It appears Pacific Wings has disappeared altogether. Shame as I enjoyed accessing some of the older issues for research. Anyone any idea where all that resource has gone?

Oh no, the website is gone now? Damn, that was a great resource. I hope the current owner might turn the archive over to the National Library of New Zealand or a university to keep online for researchers.
What a shame and a waste, Wings was quite probably New Zealand's oldest regular magazine. I heard an expert say on Radio NZ that Seaspray was, however that didn't start publication till 1946 and Wings was founded in 1932! Can't someone save it?

As a resource it is a legacy and memorial to Ross Macpherson and Ross Ewing in my opinion

And Ross Dunlop, who saved the magazine in the early 1970's when it went through a bad patch. Although he's not dead.

Maybe we should give some thought on how to preserve the online resource indefinitely? Who's picking up the bills right now?

A few years ago an acquaintance to me of his son being given an old box of 'aircraft drawings' from the widow next door. I ask him to see if he could get them professionally copied onto CD, I pay for it, and a copy for him. e thinking they were probably WW2 stuff. The next time i saw him he told me the box had got wet in the shed and all 'stuffed'. He said something about 'Caudron' and saw the look on my face knowing what had been lost. At that point I set up www.All-Aero.comThe goal being to preserve and make freely available any info about anything that flys. Unfortunately anything that flys rocks my boat so its got rather large. Websites are not expensive to host these days. Building a proper searchable database is, but the basics are not. If there is anything I can do to help let me know.

KTJ, Only several boxes.............. God I wish I only had several boxes. Structural additions needed to my hacienda to keep it intact with all the mags I have collected, and books, memorabilia and the odd, assorted Mustang and Birdog parts scattered around the place.
