Nice aircraft. I have been fortunate enough to work on a number of MiG.15UTI (Lim), a MiG.17 (Lim) and a MiG.21 all ex-Poland. Would have loved to see the MiG 17 fly here but unfortunately events conspired against that. Really like the single seat MiG.15

Was talk Ashburton was to get a SEPECAT Jaguar years back to accompany the Harrier, I would wish that to the Mig-17 ... maybe both !

We took the Mig 17 out of its container today for inspection by MPI, I expect it will be trucked from Christchurch to Ashburton in a few days.. It looks good..

OK, I have looked at the picture again and I see the avionics have been updated somewhat since this aircraft left Poland. I dont now how much is original!

Are there any updates on this project please? It would be great to see some more photos of it being put together in Ashburton if it has made it that far by now...?

pretty sure I saw it going south during the week. It was on the back of a truck and I had my camera but it would not stop for me.

The Mig 17 has been declared clean by MPI and the tail feathers moved to the workshop for the start of restoration/renovation work.

Ian - a catch-up is long overdue! It has been a very long time, so much has happened with both off us, from the look, for the better for you, nothing has changed here other the family door is now on the front wall.
