My latest project... started as a 1/72 Aeropoxy resin kit aeropoxy_zps3tjtkqtc by Harry Follas, on Flickr but... 50% of the resin mouldings were rendered unusable by air bubbles or poor quality mouldings... Having a scale set of 3 view drawings come in handy...I found it was quite possible to reverse engineer tigermoth parts. So here is the result combining 3 models...Aeropoxy fuselage with wings, struts propeller & wheels from an AZ Model Tigermoth and the fin and tailwheel from a new Airfix Tigermoth FullSizeRender_zpsumtmanv3 by Harry Follas, on Flickr all the tiger's struts & fittings where reusable although they had to be reconfigured to some degree. The model will either be ADI or APT, still looking at canopy options

Does anyone make the fuselage only? I,m asking because I think the Amodel DG60GIII (Moth Major?)kit would supply pretty much whatever else is needed.

you may find the Moth's wings unswept while the Fox Moth wings are (albeit less than a Tiger Moth). Tiger Moth bits work fine, you just have to cut a thin wedge from the front of each wing section. The center section (fuel tank) is also wider than the tiger.
You may have to go down the same path as I did & purchase the Aeropoxy model to get the fuse, I wasn't that impressed with the rest of the model quality, however they include a series of scaled plans & CD with lots of imagery (50+ pages), plans etc.

Nice work Harry! I love the Fox and it's great to see one built, albeit a hybrid as you say. I started and abandoned one based on the old Airfix Tiger ages ago, maybe with the new kit I can be brave enough to try again.
I look forward to seeing the end result, my vote is for ADI.

It will probably wind up being ADI in West Coast markings (minus wheel spats though). I have been able to successfully retrieve the fragile vac-form canopy & rear fuse decking from the kit. I designed a set of Alps decals for a friend of ADI a while ago & have a spare set Just looking at the photo-etch which came with the AZ Model Tigermoth, it will come in very handy for the Foxmoth build, lots of details such as control linkages and detailed pitot tube assembly, also seat belts & stuff.

Decals are done...just needs rigging...not perfect but not bad for a collection of spare parts and a bit of scratch building IMG_6850_zpst8czyb6e by Harry Follas, on Flickr

While you may think it's "not perfect", I love it! Bravo Harry, she's gorgeous.

yeah...shape is not quite right round the cockpit & canopy, however overall impression is pretty good. Very, very fiddly though in 1/72 (lots of cursing...just ask the other half!)

Wonderful work Harry. How did you rig it with the wings attached?

Well - the Fox Moth was basically, a Tiger with a 4 passenger fuselage......

Harry
How did you make the decals? Did you Laser print them at home, and, if so, onto what brand decal paper?
Thanks.

Yes they are my own decals. These ones were Alps printed onto Testors paper...not ideal combination (paper not quite compatible) and it needed 3 attempts to get decals to work (sometimes text on smaller decals would just 'float' off the sheet). However the silver surrounds on the windows were actually printed decal paper The whole decal sheet was printed white first and then overprinted with the correct colour

Thank you - the reply is appreciated. Can you recommend any NZ supplier for the decal paper? I ask this as the model shops I deal with (albeit only if absolutely necessary) seem to restrict their stock to ink-jet compatible papers, which experience has shown aren't exactly happy when placed in laser printers....
