Dave,
You realise of course that all this (well deserved) praise from near and far is designed to ensure that you feel compelled to 'volunteer' to carry on piloting the good aeroplane WONZ for the next ten years!
Cheers and beers, Errol

Yes - Congratulations Dave for such a great forum ... my favorite posts are 'old' photos of NZ aviation - old Harvards, P-40s, shots during the war etc ...and the stories & history that go with them:)
You do a great job Dave - keep it up.
Cheers John.

Yes congratulations everyone, but especially to Dave. Time for a Christchurch WONZ birthday celebration I think Baz! Well done Dave and the other 'originals' as well for sticking with it. Any excuse for a beer I say. When, where ?? Is tomorrow too soon, cricket on TV at the Harvard... ? Suits me after a day at the Museum and it is forecast to get to 30 deg here tomorrow so I could be quite parched by 5pm.

Well that is two. I did hear Johnny F mention that he thought it was time for a mini-meet but I am unsure what he is up to tomorrow. I have a feeling he will be a starter.. He seems to enjoy buying me a beer.

Dave, A big hearty Congratulations on 10 years I can't remember exactly when I joined, but its been great. The information one can find on this forum about New Zealand Aviation is second to none. I too have frequently given a link to this forum, when other folks have had questions. Thank you for a great place to hang out (I don't drink, so closest place to a pub or club) with like minded folks. Also getting to meet great people at WONZ meetings ( including yourself ). Looking forward to the next ten years. Thank you also for all the work you also do, behind the scenes (and to the all the Mods who assit you) Thanks/regards Alan

Back to the actual thread topic... The one regret I have with this forum is that I started it just at the same time as when my Dad, Gordon Homewood, had been diagnosed with cancer. He spent the next five months in hospital and then finally passed away in July 2005. So Dad, who had been the major influence in my life in getting me into aviation - as he was a big fan of aeroplanes, warbirds, airshows, model aeroplanes, the RNZAF and particularly Mustangs, himself - never really got to see the forum, and never got to see how it has developed and what it has become. It really makes me sad that he's not around to enjoy the forum, he'd have really loved it I'm sure, and he'd have loved all the old photos and historical information. I also inherited my leadership skills from him, I'm sure, as he ran a few popular clubs and associations, and he liked to arrange events too, so I think he'd have been pretty proud of how I have tried to carry on in similar vane.

I for one have never met you Dave. However, I am sure that he would be proud of you. The way this forum and your other endeavours have grown from the love of aviation he instilled in you. Well Done....

Well done Dave. Keep it up. I enjoy the forum with the remarks from different people. Do not always agree with the comments, but we all have our opinions. As far as your Dad having an interest in aircraft, it is only logical living next to an aerodrome. It does have some inpact. I should know.

Thanks Bob. Absolutely Dave, that living next to Ardmore thing rubbed off well on you and him both, eh.

My join date says Jan 27 2006 - this was the first internet forum I ever felt comfortable joining, and for me that's a testament to Dave for setting it up and to the atmosphere he and the first cadre of members created. Well done Dave and everyone for making this place what it is, long may it continue.

My thanks to you too Dave, for this great website you've created for us (and thanks also to all those that assist you);. Like alanw it's my pub/club where I can enjoy my obsessive aviation interest and I'm sure your Dad would be most proud of your achievement.
My Dad made me give my 30 odd 1/72 models to my young cousins when I was 16. But I continued to read books over the years...
Yep, your Dad would be most chuffed, Dave...
Many thanks, and cheers to another 10 years...
