It is getting refurbished and moved as part of the roading changes at the intersection there. It is going back up in the Spitfire Square shopping development on at the airport on Memorial Ave.

*** EDIT *** Not my photo but I seem to be gaining 'Likes' for it. I just played about with the link that Dave was having trouble with in his earlier post. My only connection to any of that was that I was probably in ChCh on the day.

I got told at work and quickly drove round just to see it being driven away. chatted with a bloke about it etc and told him I originally helped build it and paint it. the paint has certainly taken a pounding over time. I think it has been down since I did it and redone by barf at the museum though, probably 10 years ago

Too high for one of Ray's passes :-D Jack the trailier back down to minimum and it would look like a Hanna special :-O

I would have loved to get in the cockpit and make aeroplane noises while the truck drove along maybe all the way up Memorial Ave and back ... that would have turned a few heads

Don't know if it was the same truck, but saw one with the same undercarriage going down the main street yesterday while I waited for my fish and chips, are there many of these around? isc

An Auster on the back of a trailer from Rolleston to Christchurch got a few people looking but even I will admit if it was a Spitfire it would have had the cameras clicking away! Actually I dont know if you can actually fit in the "cockpit" of the fiberglass replica?
