"Waiting for CAA" is pretty much what Warren mentioned in the radio interview, with the hope that flight testing would begin in the next two weeks. Like Ando I'm excited for more news - and testing my own patience - but I'm guessing the team is hard at work getting things just right and is focusing on that rather than taking photos.

Better to overdo the testing than something else.......... Remember the old saying in aircraft restoration, "When its 90% finished there's still 90% to go...".

Lovely photos, Gavin! Do you know if another control column is going in?

Yes it can be fitted, is really tight in there though with it in and the seats are not staggered so the seating position with two up is snug to say the least!

Bugger.......... thanks to an electrician (*^$#@&*^$$ !!!) I cannot now get over there for the first flight. Very disappointing indeed. Please have a cold one for me to celebrate this great event.

I bet! I poked my head in last time I was up there and I think if I were on board it'd have to be a single-pilot operation! That's great to hear, thanks for that. Ando, I just missed your post. I'll take some video for you and post it here as soon as I can

I'm intrigued by the white wind-up key just in front of the bomb bay - or is it a twin loo roll holder (being dual control and all that)?
Great photos Dave, thanks!

Nice one Dave! Looking a bit blowy for the next few days.
So, what marks of Mossie had cannon only? Nightfighters, any others?

Again, I wish this forum had a "Love" button like on Facebook. Excellent photos, Dave! Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed them on Facebook on my phone before work but seeing them on a PC monitor is even better. Seeing a black spinner fitted to a silver Mossie makes me think of the 75Sqn machines. I love that look! It's also great to see Bevan checking it out. Your Temora chat with him was very enjoyable and I was pleased to hear he is keen to get into the more modern stuff. Errol - I think it may be just the nightfighters? I was initially surprised to see the cannon on TV959 as I'm so used to seeing the late, lamented RR299 (basically the only T.III I've ever known) which seemed totally unarmed. She's getting close, I can feel it. Awesome stuff. We are so lucky to have these clever, creative folk and their customers who choose to come here.

They are dummy cannon fronts to appear like she has them fitted. The structure in the bomb bay has nothing to support the cannon pack, note the big cross brace in its way...
TV959 originally had the ports skinned over, this has been done to simulate her new guise and look more like a fighter than a trainer. Personally I would have loved to have seen her silver with trainer yellow bands and dayglo stripes etc. But 'hey' its not my plane etc etc...paint her how you like blah blah....you all know the story!
Either way, the boys have done an amazing job!

I'm with Anthony on this one....No disrespect to Avspecs or the quality/beauty of the finished product, and I know its the owners call, but if you're going to use the identity of a real aircraft on a reproduction, then at least stay faithful to the identity - otherwise why not leave the original fuse with its true identity?......

Its only paint and also not inaccurate to have an armed T.III

None of the above will have any noticeable effects on how the 2 merlin engines sound when it's doing high speed passes at airshows A training nose is much nicer than say the night fighter nose to me. It does huge wonders to the global warbird population. This type was extinct from the sky for way too long. Where ever a mosquito is flying in the world now, it's giving massive exposure and credit to some extremely talented kiwi craftsmen. Long may they keep rolling out from Ardmore I say.
