To these untrained eyes it doesn't look as bad as reports of his injuries suggest, but I hope he pulls through. I've admired his work for years, and the fact he's a pilot only serves to make him cooler!

I read it was described as a Stearman but that's definitely not a Stearman in the photo. It's a Ryan isn't it?

Typical over hyped media blurb. According to Harrison's son he is "battered but OK", hardly critical!
Of course it's not a Stearman, any reporter can see it's a Cessna!

That's the thing with scalp/facial lacerations, they bleed like a complete mo'fo and you look like an extra from a slasher zombie horror movie. However unless you crack your skull, they can usually just shave your head, stitch you up and send you home. Maybe some observation for 24 hours to rule out concussion. Harrison Ford has a well publicised scar on his chin from an old car accident, and has a couple of replaced teeth from an on-set stunt incident. Now he will have another battle-stripe on his swede that I'm sure will get written in to his next movie's plot.

I can see why he crashed his Stearman, it appears to have lost a wing! ...

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the folks living around Santa Monica Airport (who CHOSE to live next to an airport) try and use this as yet another piece of ammunition in their battle to close down Santa Monica Airport, previously known as Clover Field where most of the Douglas Commercial piston-engine airliners were built. See THIS THREAD elsewhere in this messageboard.

There.s a clip some where on U.tube showing him on a flight in his Dh Beaver.Wish him a quick recovery. I can do better than that. I've got a DVD documentary about the DHC2 Beaver and it is narrated by none other than Harrison Ford, who also talks about and features his own Beaver in the documentary.

Here's another photograph from the Tribune Newspapers website (click on the photo to download the full-sized version). You can clearly see the lettering on the cowl showing the aircraft type.

Heard on the news here he has leg fractures and a broken pelvis.....
He's a great actor and I didn't know he owned or flew a classic such as this!

How he managed to get through the trees without ripping a wing off - amazing! A great actor and a real outdoors person, and it appears, quite a talented pilot! Get well soon!

Harrisons Ford's son tweeted that his Dad is a bit sore but is ok. Some wag placed a photo of the Millennium Falcon (the ship he flies in Star Wars) crashed on a golf course on Facebook. (After he learned that he was ok. Looks to be a big repair job. Harrison Ford has flown since the 1960s and apart from flying fixed wing aircraft I think he also has a rotary licence and is a big promoter of aviation.
