A six to finish it off, great way to beat a SA team. Both teams played well and the crowd and international audiences surely got value for money. Well done Black Caps and hope they can carry the skills into the next game.

I only watch cricket now and then. Even last night I was only occasionally flicked over to see how we were doing. However we decided to watch from about 9:30 and were hooked. Talk about edge of my seat even the cat had her paws over her eyes. Great effort lads!

Watching Vetorri bat is nerve wracking - in the last over, 10 runs to get to win, he protected his stumps by reaching out swinging and connecting solidly with the ball that was right on the stumps, went straight to a player. Then he scored a four which was wide on off side, by sticking his bum back and reaching and swinging to connect with the ball near the bottom of the bat. It squirted off on the diagonal past third man for four. Then there was a swing and a miss - the ball ran on to the keeper but they ran quickly through for a bye to allow Elliot on strike. Two balls to go and still 5 runs to get ... then the glorious clout as Elliot connected - so over she goes - WOW! Had us almost in tears! I was sure they were not going to make it, there was always this 10 run deficit - 28 runs to get in 18 balls... Well done men! Off to the MCG for next Sunday.
It was astonishing to see the distraught faces of the SA team. Dropped to the ground slumped, motionless, tears in their eyes in disbelief, I did feel sorry for them.

The thing about the finish was, the Black Caps only needed a 4 to put us into the final as a draw would have seen us go through on our superior position in the table and better net run rate. But as Williamson showed a month ago against Australia, this team wants to win on their own merit, and win they did.

It was a good game, they seem to finally be back to the level of where the New Zealand team was 20+ years ago, although they definitely have a bit more intensity to their game, and far better uniforms, so maybe this is NZ's best ever team? Hard to believe, only a season ago they were nobodies on the world stage.
