With the snow disappearing I set about exploring some of Ottawa today on my mountain bike. During a drive past in car I had spied a monument surmounted by an eagle which I assumed to be a US eagle. Today I was surprised to find out it was the Commonwealth Air Forces Memorial which remembers 809 men and women of the Commonwealth Air Forces who died during WWII in and around Canada and USA.
While primarily RCAF names there are also RAAF, RNZAF, Newfoundland, Ferry Command and I think it was 'Technical Services'.
I counted 19 RNZAF names. I will go back with a camera and post some pictures.
Somewhere to add to the ANZAC Day places to visit.

A sobering reminder of the size of the scheme and the casualties during training
