I was thinking about our discussion regarding the tents and sun shades which sprung up all along the fence line at the Wings over Wairarapa event, and I've found a suitable solution:

Over at the Key Publishing Forum someone posted an image of a pair of wirecutters/sidecutters...debate rages as to whether it was intended to separate windbreaks from the fence, or sever PA speaker cables to silence a particularly unpopular commentator...

I saw this at La Ferte Alais, and had to take a photo. Unfortunately you couldn’t do this in New Zealand, as by the time you had completed your Environmental Impact Report, Traffic Management Plan, Health & Safety Plan, Litter Management Plan, Emergency Evacuation Test, Building Fire Report, Sustainable Building Materials Usage Report, Land Management Deviation Request, Environmental Emissions Report, Approved Risk Management Framework, Hazardous Substances Report, Accident Register, Structural Engineers Report and received your Building Consent, Resource Consent, Land Use Consent, Building Code Compliance Certificate, Liquor License (if required), Certificate for Public Use, Building Warrant of Fitness, Outdoor Dining License, Insurance Certificate, Electrical Compliance Certificate, District Plan Approval Notification, any Disclaimers / Waivers from users and got sign-off from the local Council, local Iwi, the Fire Service, the Police, the Animal Welfare League, the IRD, and the event organiser, the event will have finished and you’ll have missed out.

Classic Fighters at Omaka had the right idea about the big tents and ladders, they simply banned them. And that I believe was partly as a result of the discussions here.

Solution to a blocked view? Pay for a gold pass. Don't like that view? Well... Maybe pay for a licence and a type rating and the experience to maybe possibly one day be allowed to fly in a display.

Aided a little perhaps by the fact that the climate in Marlborough in early April is a tad milder as a rule than that in the Wairarapa in late January

Aided a little perhaps by the fact that the climate in Marlborough in early April is a tad milder as a rule than that in the Wairarapa in late January I only attended one day of Wings Over Wairarapa (due to work commitments) and I got more sunburnt during that one day (in spite of slapping on sun-block) than I did during the three days of Classic Fighters, in spite of the fact that I only used sun-block on one of the days I was there. That Wairarapa sun is bloody fierce at Hood Aerodrome. I've even been badly burned during a 2½-hour TVAL flying-display, in spite of wearing sun-block.
