Assuming the seats etc are the same as the trans-Tasman A380s, I'll consider it (Business for Dubai onwards?). [checks Seat Guru] Right, I remember now, a 10-across B777. No!
Options on more minor routes to Europe are relevant for me, we are considering going to Helsinki next year.

Hips aren't the problem, it's rubbing shoulders! Analysis from Ben Sandilands.

I was going to mention that Errol doesn't need any kind of weight-loss regime!
I'd happily do it. Books to read, podcasts to listen to while I look out the window, have lots of water so I can go for a walk every other hour. The only thing is, I can't think of a reason to go to Dubai.

Don't you watch the program on Dubai Airport. Both my wife and I want to go just to see and experience the airport.

Dubai airport is actually pretty sleazy. Like any TV program, they only show you the parts they want you to see.
Singapore - apart from the dodgy wifi access - is actually a lot better.

Did Sydney to Dubai on an Emirates B777 with 10 across. I'd read horror stories beforehand so was presently surprised with experience (as much as 15 hours in aluminium tube of any type can be described as pleasant). It may have been that my family occupied the entire 4 seat centre row so we had less issues with being close to others but it didn't feel particularly cramped (and I'm not little). The seats were certainly more comfortable than the Virgin B777 we flew form LA back to Sydney on the return leg of that trip, those and the Iceland Air B757 seats were awful (9 hours in 7575 was long enough as well).
That said the best long haul experience I've had recently was Qantas A380 Sydney -Dubai and London - Sydney (again best probably isn't the best word for any long haul flight). But they really comfortable seats, good food and entertainment and good staff. I was really surprised, much better than the Emirates A380 we flew on form Dubai to Paris on the same trip
Agree about Dubai airport, it's nothing flash. I'd avoid it if I could but going that way gives you so many ways into Europe/UK, especially if you want to avoid Heathrow

Never seen the Dubai programme. I'm no good with heat, either!

I'll have a second hand report in about 3 months! My Mum and her mates have swapped to this service to get to their Kenyan safari.

Well, I survived a trip operating, DXB-AKL block time 15.50, actual flight time 15.25, AKL- DXB block was 16.50, actual flight 16.25. No major issues either way, no major passenger issues in either direction apart from a couple of moaning Manchester bound old ladies who complained to the crew that no one told them the flight would be this long. Over 80% load each way, and interestingly enough we bought back to Dubai 16 tonnes of tiptop ice cream as freight!
