If you like meaty details about aircraft operation, this episode is for you. The second half features WGCDR Tim "Slops" Alsop (now a GPCAPT ) talking us through the planning & performance of the RAAF's F-18 Handling Display at the Tyabb Air Show in 2014. I got to sit down with Tim to record in full detail how the handling display is flown including speeds, altitudes, angles of attack and what he's doing in the cockpit as he's flying the display. Tim also took the time to walk us through an F-18 preflight and discussed his aviation career from when he was learning to fly at Tyabb and Moorabbin in Melbourne to his (then) current role as CO of 3 SQN RAAF. The episode also has a discussion with a RAAF Forward Air Controller about doing his job in the PC-9, information about the Triton and Fire Scout UASs, RAAF C-17s, MAF, the Mahindra GA-10 and the Japan Air Self Defence Force KC-767.
