Even an imbecile would be capable of using Google to search for T-28 Trojan to obtain a photograph of a Trojan instead of simply chucking in a photograph of a Cessna. It is patently obvious that many journalists today are morons!!

We should all know by now that the media are morons but I think the point of this thread has been lost - by all accounts the Trojan is to make a belly landing.
I kind of thought that would take precedence over a Cessna photo being used.

I meant 'right' as in at least they used a photo of a Trojan.
Stu's right tho - hope both pilot and plane will be ok

Just spoke to my son who is watching from a distance as roads are blocked off. It's still airborne and is performing manoeuvres suggesting he's trying to coax the gear down.
Weather is crap

It's down OK but gear-up and emergency services are dispersing.

Pretty gutting for the team involved, but at least its a good solid airframe for wheels-up landings. Hopefully "It'll buff Out.."

That's heart breaking. Doubt that engine will be cheap to rebuild, although it looks like it was shutdown (hard to tell from the video) looks like he did a good job of landing it safely. Credit to the Pilot.

This is heartbreaking news. I'm pleased to hear that pilot Dave Brown is OK. I feel so gutted for the owners and team who have put so much into getting this aircraft flying.

I just heard the radio news talk about an aircraft at Ardmore and my first thought was Mosquito. Very disappointing to hear it's the Trojan and that this is the end result. I don't know much about emergency landings but that looked to have gone as well as I could hope. Bravo Dave.

Beware, this is a rant:
The thing is, from where I sit, it is actually just pure LAZINESS in such reporting of much-less-than-facts. How could you actually pay someone a wage for this pathetic conjecture. This is not to overlook the appalling standards of grammar and spelling in the modern NZ media - this in the age of Google and spell-check. I actually take personal pride in trying to get all of those things right in anything I say, and this only as an average Joe on on this forum with nothing particularly informative to add! A professional journalist/reporter to the Nation is paid to present the facts in an informative way. If I can't say something accurate with conviction, a result of research, I don't say it... Perhaps I'm getting old. All you Editors responsible for selling us tripe in your media releases TAKE NOTE: I am no longer one of your paying readers - I've had enough! (I welcome any corrections of spelling or grammatical errors in this rant)
I feel sorry for Brian...

Herald have no Cessna there now. Perhaps they had this thread pointed out to them? Seriously....I once sent an email to The Dominion Post after they did something equally silly with an aviation-related news story, so I sent them a link to the thread at this group where they were being absolutely ridiculed. They didn't reply to my email, but not long afterwards, the news story was corrected and what they corrected it to was almost word-for-word what somebody had “correctly” posted in the thread at this group. Bit of a bummer about the Trojan, although the main thing is that nobody was hurt. Bent aeroplanes can be fixed.
