You can download a pdf brochure from HERE. Go to the G-111T page in the Products menu, then click on the “G-111T Technical Brief” link towards the bottom-right of the webpage. I'm a bit of a cynic, hence the title of the thread. I'll believe it when I actually see one of them in the air (or on the water).

There is a company still building the Grumman Goose, or is it Mallard, in Florida, isn't there?

There is a company called Mallard Aircraft, Dave. I understand they are associated with Frakes Aviation, a company originally formed by the late Fred Frakes who developed the turbine conversion for the Mallard. I also understand that Frakes Aviation took over all of the certification documents from Grumman at some point. However I am not aware of Mallard Aircraft actually producing any new-build Mallard amphibians yet. • MALLARD AIRCRAFTThere was a separate company which had a plan to put the Goose back into production again, but I haven't heard any more about them for quite a while. I used to have a link to their website, but it isn't on either of my current computers; it is possibly archived on a USB stick of external hard-drive. However, there will almost certainly be a thread or threads about it posted to The Flying Boat Forum, which contains a HUGE resource of information about historic and current flying-boats, amphibians and seaplanes.

You can't carry very many people in a Wildcat, a Hellcats, or a Tomcat; and you cannot carry people in comfort in an Avenger.
But an Albatross, or a Mallard, or a Goose can carry a decent load, people-wise.
Even a Widgeon has the potential to be a fun vessel (and I know somebody designed an updated Widgeon; there is an article about it online somewhere), such as you can fly to a lake or the sea, land and go fishing. Try that with a Wildcat, or a Hellcat, an Avenger or a Tomcat and you'll end up sinking into Davy Jones' locker.
Anyway, much as I'd love to see brand-new Abatross, Mallard and Goose amphibians being turned out, I remain dubious that there would be a big enough market to make it finacially viable. I hope I'm proved wrong, though. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for those web-foot Grummans.

There was a warbird Wildcat that was fitted out to carry four of five passengers actually.

For someone with such a bad attitude towards flying boats, you sure spent a lot of time in one in the video posted to HERE....

The iPhone prank (drilling a 3.5mm headphone socket) was originally posted to THIS THREAD on 25th September. I'm amazed that some people around the world were so stupid as to be sucked in by it and actually attempt the mod on their phones.
