We would like to know where the spares are if anyone has any knowledge of them.

On 19 March 1973 I was flying in Wessex HC2 XT603 of No.103 Squadron RAF on a troop lifting exercise in southern Johore. Also on that exercise was XT730. I have a photograph of XT730 at a landing pad in the jungle. A photograph of XT603 on the same exercise appears at Plate 83 in my book SEEK AND DESTROY

Way cool Classic Flyer. Guess I'll be paying another visit at Christmas.
I was unaware the Wessex ever operating in NZ on the civil register. Does anyone have any images of them flying during their logging operations?

Incredible, thanks for posting. They look very complete and in good condition, once they have had a wash down it will be interesting to see how they look. Can't wait.

They are in great condition and very complete. We didn't get much of a chance to look at them when we went down there but there were no obvious items missing. It will be interesting to get into the cockpits for a look. Being inside for the last 10 years will have worked in their favour.

Hi folks, I flew XR 511 18 times between 2 Mar 71 and 3 Jul 73 and XT 606 43 times between 11 May 71 and 8 May 73. Most of the flying was done in N Ireland and I have found a couple of interesting trips; We rescued a car from the sea on the N Antrim coast on 9 Jun 71 and got hit by a brick on 14 Jun 71! I left 72 Sqn in 73 and went on a ground tour to Germany before re-mustering as a Harrier pilot. In 82, I flew Sea Harriers in the Falklands and was credited with 4 kills. I also flew 2 trips in a WEssex 5!! Tootle-pip! Mogwi

He flew the two registered Wessex's for Fords. I last saw him at Wanaka with a Wessex. R

I know XS675 and XT680 from my days on 22 Sqn 'E' Flight at Manston, Kent. Both served there in SAR yellow during the 1983-1986 time period. Though I was an engines/airframes ground erk, I flew in '675 a few times and was allowed some stick time too: it was harder than they made it look!

It's nice to have some of the Wessex extended family on board. Welcome mogwi and sabrejet! We look forward to any further anecdotal contributions. I hope you enjoy rummaging through our collection of yarns, pics, and happenings on this colourful board

Hi...New to this forum but have the full history of all these Wessex if someone would like to contact me on email...helicollections@btconnect.com. As I recall there was an interesting court case surrounding their time in NZ .There should also be several crates of spares available? Would be very interested in discussing their future with the owners.

Mike Feisst of Classic Flyers NZ Museum has sent rhough the following update" "I am currently helping Dave prepare the F-86 Sabra for a repaint and thought that some of the members might like to see a few photos of the old girl as she gets her birthday present. She will be moved into the restoration hangar next week and we can finish the preparation work. Perhaps you could put these onto the Classic Flyers thread (unless you want to start another) and I will write a few notes as we progress. The first photo was of the aircraft at USAF base Osan Cheers Mike" I guess you know by now that the 'Osan' F-86F isn't the one you have? Have info if you need it.
