Just caught a clip on the afternoon news, an inline engined Ryan STM had an engine failure and forced landing. Looks like the pilot did very well getting her down and walking away with minor injuries. Didn't catch the rego but did catch that she had blue and white horizontal bands on the rudder similar to the recently restored Corsair that is based in the north of the country.
Can't find much about her on the net as yet?

If I remember rightly it was recently restored, as in Classic Wings, painted to match the corsair. VH-SQD I believe.

Yes, Graham Hoskings was the owner and pilot. He is OK apparently but sadly his gorgeous Ryan STM-2 is severely damaged. I saw it last year, it was immaculate.

Featured at Tyabbs show this year. An absolutely beautiful restoration as a Honduran armed Ryan and Scotty Taberner said it flew really well. Just so glad GH is ok. Anything, no mater how badly damaged, can be fixed and you cannot have a beer with an aircraft!

It's a Ryan STA and it was a fighter variant.

This rare Ryan STA-Special was a single seat light fighter in Honduran Air Force livery. The Honduran Air Force operated three STA Specials from 1938 to 1943.
It had two underwing mounted 7.7mm guns. I don't think this one was originally one of the Honduran fighters but it was done in the scheme to match the F4U-5N Corsair in the same collection which has the genuine history in that country.

Yes - bad to see this lovely Ryan damaged, but the pilot got out ok - and I'm sure the aircraft will be rebuilt. The armed Ryans actually had a Lewis Gun on the top of the wing - US Remington built 30-06s - in a neat little fairing.
