Saturday 11th February
Te Kowhai Airfield, Limmer Rd Hamilton, 10am to 3pm. Community Market (Crafts, food, produce etc) to be held at Te Kowhai Airfield (NZTE) in conjunction with an airfield open day. Intended to build links between the Airfield operators and tenants, and the local community. Visiting aircraft are welcome - see the AIP for the latest details on the newly extended airstrip! This is a really positive concept to help educate the wider community on the value of recreational airfields.
More details to follow.

The Airfield managers at Te Kowhai provided some updated info about this. The event is primarily the Community market and is not specifically avitaion focussed, but visitors are more than welcome to fly in. SAA will have a static display on site. Becuase of the market activities, aircraft parking will be limited - The "grass apron" area outside the flight lounge and fuel pumps will be public access. Aircraft parking here need to have arrived before 10am and stay until 4pm, and will be "on display" for the general public to move around. Aircraft must be pulled by hand in this area - no turning props whilst open to the public. Access to the fuel pumps will be possible, but limited (It will probably require moving the aircraft by hand). Aircraft arriving or departing during the day will be parked on the northern side of the runway, away from the public, and care must be taken when walking across the runway. Bring your own aircraft tie-downs if required.

And a wee video I have put together from yesterday's Te Kowhai Country Market. This steam punk ukulele orchestra was great!
