A case of the model mimicking the real aircraft...My 20 year old Short Solent flying boat (an Airfix Sunderland conversion) has had a reprieve from a situation threatening its existence... The combined effects of heat/humidity and age has caused the original filler (car-bog, believe it or not) used start to severely crack and blister beneath the paint. So it was time for drastic action...its in for total strip down, repair and repaint. The conversion used engines from 4 Matchbox Tempest II models, new window frames from ply and a balsa replacement nose section (sealed using Everdure, an Epiglass epoxy product). The fuselage was originally severed and extended just before the wing during the mods. This will take some time to rectify, not so keen to strip this one with oven cleaner! But it will probably come out of the refit with an earlier livery...

It would be nice to see a TEAL Solent appear as something other than ZK-AMO. There were others.

Likewise I have a very large photo measuring 1.80 across and 1.20 top to bottom of ZK AMM on the step on Auckland's harbour. Awesome photo and to think it was in a board room and was going to the tip until I came along just in the nick of time... Even MOTAT don't have a photo as big as that of her..

The photo I have of ZK AMM, does not have the words TEAL on the tail only the NZ Flag. The cheat line starts right up on the bow/nose looks to be a black colour and runs back to the leading edge of the tail.

That's a very cool piece of work! Please tell me you plan on redoing it with the restored version?

Thought that it may have been. Not been there yet but have spent a lot of time on Rarotonga. Wonderful place to shake off the world.

Indeed...spent 5 days of our honeymoon there...magic 😍! Yes would love to go back and recreate the shot Zac!!
Working slowly with the model. While the nacelles are actually Centaurus' (instead of Hercules, which I'm not changing), I've cropped the props to the correct 12' 3" instead of 13' 6". They already look more balanced on the model,

I thought the earlier markings might make a point of difference 😊, reading the Coral Route book, it seems that all 4 aircraft were later painted white in this scheme with the TEAL tail logo having a teal colured background.
I'll need to get a suitable Auckland or Wellington harbour scene to photoshop in background Zac?
