Just about ready for maiden, probably wrong to do mods and paint before maiden?! She is a Dynam 1400 span, runs on a 3 cell battery. The floats in the retracted position as she won’t be landing on water will take off and land on her belly. Painted as a RAAF Catalina A24-2 which performed the first medical evacuation from Lord Howe Island 75 years ago. The early war RAAF Cats where painted in two tone grey with black undersides, also used pastels to give her a good weathering.

Good luck! I've got the same model, flies really well. Mine is running the stock power system on a 3S 2200. Put a carbon spar through wing (although in hindisght it doesnt need it) and repainted it. And reshaped the rudder, looks like you did the same? Take off is easy from grass. can look a bit arkward, but but just steer it down along the ground and it will be airborne pretty quick. The slower it flies, the better it goes. It gets real uncomfortable at high speed. I spent far too much time and effort making retracting tip floats, and it's a waste of time, so you aren't missing anything here. I have only once managed to get it airborne off water, so i usually take off from grass adjacent, and fly around over and land on water which works fine.

Thanks for the great tips, yet to maiden way too windy of late, same battery as you and yes reshaped the rudder, talk on some forums she is a bit prone to tip stall if you get too slow in turns, I like the grey sleepy cat on the lounge.

No I hangar rashed her, in the back of my van on the way to the local golf course for the maiden flight. Taking her out of the car and caught the starboard tail plane! Still haven't fixed her and it has been too windy as well, so there's the long story, will get her in the air soon hopefully!?
