RAAF Williamtown is situated just north of the New South Wales city of Newcastle. Civil aeroplanes, both private and commercial, share the airstrip with the RAAF Hawks and the F18 Classic Hornets. In the northeastern corner is the Fighterworld museum which houses a nice collection of retired RAAF aeroplanes. www.fighterworld.com.au] Seeing the current military aeroplanes while at the museum can be a bit and hit and miss, had been listening while I was having a look around. Went out to the car to make my departure when I heard a jet in the circuit. Missed the first one I heard but heard then saw a second machine come into land. Have always wondered about the two tone grey schemes on the RAAF Hawks, seem to remember they painted them like this to make them easier to be seen!?
