Since I’m still in the Stone Age IRT Facebook as I have better things to do than Facebook all day, so can someone post the Avspecs facebook page. Your wish is my command. HERECheers Baz, Been following this since it was first rise here and it’s all very interesting in deed. Anyway it’s good to see the jig staying NZ and FYI there was a mossie base just down the rd from me (about 50km) still got landholders phone number. Rumour has it there is a big dump about 1km from my new house of aircraft parts and god knows what else at Howard Springs Defence Establishment which was close to the old North Australian Railway (The Never Never Line).

Yes we are lucky and it is always a privilege and full of anticipation when you walk thru the door and see what is there. Just wandering around and looking at the workmanship that goes into their restorations you are full of admiration. And Wal is always so laid back when the aircraft are going thru their test programs.

Time to get cracking with a shovel and a metal detector Just send your father-in law over, but then again I don’t think a lot digging will get then? As we will be doing more drinking than digging, but aren’t son- in laws meant to do the digging instead. Anyway at this old mossie Airfield they burnt one on VJ Day and on that very spot there is a gum tree growing mossie parts I shit you not .

I think it was in a thread about the rebuild of KA-114, someone mentioned the need for brass screws. In Darfield we are setting up a Menz Shed, and one of the items among the donated stuff is a large number(not weighed them, but more than 1 Kg) wood screws brass, size 4 x 3/8", couner sunk head. isc

I know that we (the Ferrymead Mosquito project) would be happy to have them if they are surplus to your requirements.

That Mossie has been for sale a long time now. I guess it's too big a risk for most people.

US$10 million is a huge amount for what is basically a static aircraft at the moment. You'd need a lot more for a careful maintenance check and servicing to get it airworthy, and a repaint.

The Mosquito Pathfinder Trust has become more active on Facebook of late and turned their attention to NZ2308. Where does that leave DZ542?
