Sounds like a great experience. I really like Adam Savage's enthusiasm for the things he likes. I need to make friends with Peter Jackson. It's good to see TVAL is happy to operate in this manner after their quiet time over the past few months.

The episode tonight is not from his 2018 visit. That was just a test run. The actual episode was filmed in April 2019 just before Easter. Forum member and my good friend Bevan Dewes is one of the two pilots featured in the episode. He's the Fokker pilot.

The episode was rather good. Just a pity we don't have smell o' vision, for the oil, and if Peter Jackson ever needs a bit coin, Dogfight flights could be the next big thing. I really must go down to Hood aerodrome. Anyway if you able this episode is worth watching.

Discussion about the episode
Edited to skip to when they actually start talking about the production of the episode.
I was going to question if Adam got the type right when mentioning Bevan in a P-51, but a quick search here brought up his flight in the back of one at Duxford.

Seems Adam Savage and Peter Jackson have a bit of bromance... LOL

Errol, nah the photo of Bevan was him flying the P-40. Bevan told me earlier tonight he got that wrong but that's all good. He has been up in a few Mustangs though, as passenger.

Yeah, completely understandable goof, like Vickers/Lewis also in the discussion. Fine in vlog rather than the program.

Yes exactly. It was great how much Adam and his colleague admired the TVAL crew and pilots, really good positive stuff for the collection. And I know the feeling was mutual.

Thanks for putting up that link Dave. Some of my favourite shots of the episode were the ones inside the "factory" - you can see the admiration for the craftsmanship. What an incredible facility, and thinking back to the start of TVAL, what a concept!

I rather enjoyed that. A lot more work (and thought) went into it than I expected. Also never expected hear Gary Yardley say "Lasers are armed"!
It was stunning to see Sir Peter's uniform loft. Incredible.

And you're only seeing a little bit of the filming that did too Zac, condensed a week into 40-something minutes.

For some reason I was never a Mythbusters presenting duo fan, but Savage does a really terrific job of this. Very watchable. In his element.
