Missed a decimal point in my opinion. Keep in touch with GT Carter Books in Wanganui, his going price is around $450.

What are the books he cannot sell? Maybe he should try marketing them here on the forum?

"Magnificent Enterprises - Moths,Majors & Minors The History of The De Havilland Aircraft Company" Volume Two 1926-1939
It's actually the first published volume. Janic thought that as this volume covered the classic DH years it would be the best seller of the three and so finance the other two volumes. Last time I spoke with him, sales had been very disappointing so the other two volumes never made it into print.

Tell 'im 'ee's dreamin'...
The value of these things is what people are prepared to pay for them at any given time. This doesn't always equate to what they are worth, but again, that is a matter of opinion.

That's true nuuumannn, but who has been of the "opinion" that this is the "worth", and is "prepared to pay" 0.75K so as to influence the asking figure? For Pete's sake this is #544 of 700, I must see what my one is...
I have a Douglas Bader-signed copy of "Reach For the Sky" - I must be RICH!!!!

Magnificent Enterprises is a lovely book. Shame that sales weren't as expected and that Janic hasn't been able to get the other two copies printed. Dad has both of the Topdressers Books so looking forward to inheriting those at some point.

The De Havilland books were written by long time DH employee the late Norman Eastaff, who gifted the partly unfinished work to Janic when he (Norman) became too ill to continue.
I personally observed Norm working on several of the extremely accurate and detailed drawings. In his later life, after retiring from PAC, he tripped back to the UK and was given unfettered access to the DH archives. That is where the fastidious accuracy was obtained. The rivet-count had to be correct in every illustration.
The books are probably too specialised for a NZ audience other than very serious historians or vintage reconstructors.

Janic tried to promote the DH books in the UK through Air Britain, and got little reaction.

Perhaps all of us with a copy of "Magnificent Enterprises - Moths,Majors & Minors" should put a review on amazon (or one of the other platforms).
It is a very good book.
edit: Apparently I haven't spent sufficiently on AmazonUk to post a review there.
