I read on the WingNut Wings Fans Facebook page that the New Zealand company has announced 1/32 scale Avro Lancaster "Dambusters" and Lancaster B.Mk.I/III are in development for a 2019 release. This will be epic!

Wouldn't be surprised if this is a leg-pull - HK models is releasing one very soon, and the market for a model that big/expensive isn't likely to be huge...

There's no way it is a "leg pull". Model companies do not make false announcements at international model shows. Plus I have seen comments on Facebook from someone who worked on this project.

Why stop at 1/32nd scale, they already have the moulds for 1/1 scale... . You could have a nice model for the garden and a unique tiny home at the same time!

It begs the question. Why specifically a Dambusters Lanc? Maybe it is to coincide with a remake of a particular 1955 war movie that included modified Lancasters. Just saying.

Those are just computer 3D renderings, no plastic as yet.

Yes, but these days the renderings and the plastic equates to the same thing.

Firstly 1/32nd is huge and if the interior is like those 3D pic's she will be awesome, hope the movie remake eventuates, long shot but maybe these kits are a hint it is still in the mix?

Peter Jackson has apparently been working on an unannounced project. So with a company owned by him building these models when they have previously focused on WW1 aircraft is a fairly strong hint that Dambusters may be that project. Once Mortal Engines comes out (December I think?) I would expect to hear more. Renderings look very impressive.

The trailers for Mortal Engines look like utter crap to me.

The trailers for Mortal Engines look like utter crap to me. I think what you mean to say is "this movie adaptation of a successful series of books aimed at young adults doesn't really appeal to me, but I hope lots of people go and see it, so Peter Jackson can make plenty of money to continue financing his aviation/model interests".....

Wouldn't be surprised if this is a leg-pull - HK models is releasing one very soon, and the market for a model that big/expensive isn't likely to be huge... Some of us know some of the people at WNW, and the chance of this being a leg pull (especially with the CAD imagery now posted) is about nil. It's not something they do. The market may not be huge but WNW's reputation is such that this will likely be the best kit of a Lancaster ever produced.

True - but when I made that post (about 6 days ago) the news of the impending release was about 20 minutes old... I'm glad they are making a Lancaster - I'll definitely buy AND build one, (as long as they aren't cost prohibitive), and I wasn't even considering buying the HKM one.

If those renderings are anything like the plastic...and having regard to WW's superb WW.I machines I have no doubt they will be.... the perfectionist hand of Sir Peter is all over this !

Yep, looks like it from those 3d images. Sad thing is, much of that interior detail will be lost once the fuse is closed up.
