This would be one of the most pointless threads ever. All the pontificating and "expert" opinion of what aircraft should be acquired will make not one jot of difference to the decision. All the recommendations being made on this forum will have absolutely no influence on the outcome. So I'm with Dave H on this.

This would be one of the most pointless threads ever. All the pontificating and "expert" opinion of what aircraft should be acquired will make not one jot of difference to the decision. All the recommendations being made on this forum will have absolutely no influence on the outcome. So I'm with Dave H on this. I thought this was a DISCUSSION forum and as such you will find on it expert and non expert opinion. It really gets up my craw when individuals feel it’s acceptable to make statements like this. I’d be very surprised if anyone believes anything on this forum is going to influence a Government and/or NZDF decision. It’s simply a forum designed to share opinion nothing more and nothing less. I’ve been reading this forum for years and only occasionally contributing mainly because I do not profess to be an expert on defence matters. I do like others however have my thoughts and opinions and everyone should be able to express their opinions and/or ask questions without being jeered at for doing so. To constantly criticise others for their opinions will simply shut down the discussion. So my advice if you don’t like what you read then correct incorrect (respectfully) and move on. What (in my opinion) we don’t need is a situation where people feel unable to contribute for fear of being belittled by others. That my friend is the fastest way to kill the conversation. Personally I’m happy to filter the good from the bad and do not see the need for others act as forum police on my behalf My advice don’t kill the conversation by having people feel their opinion does not count! This is a public forum not a cabinet meeting

A discussion forum is like a conversation in a pub. Half of it is bollocks; sometimes there’s a nugget of value, but mostly it’s people enjoying yarning about things that interest them.
Participation is the lifeblood of boards like this. Censor or stifle it at your peril.

Yes I get irritated by constant rehashing of shopping lists that bear no relationship to the stated objectives of various projects, or projects that don't even exist (eg: ACF), and the recent very dizzy discussion of the P8 purchase was wearing thin, but let's not shut the pub early! I've learnt to go out & have a smoke rather than trying to break a pool cue over someone's head (to continue the pub analogy, ...and not in any way aimed at anyone in particular).

Sometimes in a pub there are some people so drunk they spout utter bollocks and annoy everyone around them, and when the other patrons get sick of their antics the publican and bouncers either tell them to sober up and calm down, or they will be shown the door. But the pub does not close its doors to the good patrons who are here for the conviviality, entertainment and harmless fun.
Sometimes these threads become utterly tedious, and the publican leans towards the last orders bell, but the threads are still here, are they not? So get back to your drinking.

I've learnt to go out & have a smoke rather than trying to break a pool cue over someone's head Pretty sure that against the rules... lol But at the end of the day, it is just a discussion, people just sharing their thoughts and opinions... just as at the pub I will sit there and listen to your opinion and then share mine, and try to give an argument or reason why I think that... whether you agree with it or not that is your choice...

Well ,whatever we get, surely one of the main criteria is there is a state of the art scale model available in 1/72 and possibly 1/48 scale. This was a major failing on choosing the P-8 and likely the cause of such angst and ruminations on the other thread...though by the time we get them it might be available...

You can get a really nice 1/72 P8 model from Welsh Models, but its really expensive. Revell do a 1/72 A400M. Italeri do a 1/72 C27 and C130J, and Anigrand do a C17. 1/72 Modellers will be OK whatever is chosen!
