Pioneer Aero Ltd have announced that this P-40, which they have had in storage for some time, has joined the restoration queue.
It has been acquired by an "Auckland based businessman", which hopefully means it will stay in NZ.
Work will start later this year, presumably once the P-39 has moved out and everything shuffles up one place in the restoration process.

Better still, I have it on good authority that this P-40 will be restored to stock RNZAF condition as it was, complete with RNZAF markings.

How about to focus our hopes on getting those two actually active as a first step, then worry about what they look like?

Not serious remarks Errol. Would be more than happy to see them at least active again. This project is great news!

Great news to see another RNZAF P40 to return to the skies and with an interesting history although shooting(accidently) at your CO is probably not good for ones career but certainly adds to the aircraft's history! Pioneer are certainly putting a lot of high class P40s out there and I understand they have restored about a third of the currently flying P40s in the world with more to come.

Wonderful, just wonderful news! Made up for some pretty negative news I received earlier so this is just brilliant!

Fantastic news, and when I read the Facebook post I was hoping it would be restored as it was in the RNZAF so that's great to hear too.

Yes we seem to be slowly growing the Warbirds group. Pity that some of those already here are under a cloud and ground bound.

This P-40 was last logged as "Sold to J. Larsen from Rukuhia on 02 March 1948."
Any idea where it has spent the intervening years?
