Great news - we gave the Vampire two engine runs this afternoon. The first run produced a sheet of flame from the exhaust pipe, on start up, which everyone seems to have missed again, and the second run was a clean start with no excess fuel evident. There were smiles all round and a few beers afterwards. 221119 (15) by Mike Feisst, on Flickr 221119 (12) by Mike Feisst, on Flickr 221119 (8) by Mike Feisst, on Flickr 221119 (6) by Mike Feisst, on Flickr

In the cockpit was Ken Brooking. A Vampire man from days gone by.

Are there any plans to run the engine on the Vampire during the airshow next weekend?

Not sure at this time about the Vampire being run. Yesterday they fired up the Macchi and gave it 3 quick runs.

Hi all, we are currently looking for a Jet Pipe Temp gauge to go into a fuselage pod that we are using as a test bed for engine running. Does anyone have one available that we might be able to trade or buy. We would expect that it would need checking and calibration. The unit is 2 3/8 inch (60 mm) square. See photos below. In the course of unpacking and cataloging spares on Wednesday I came across these two different valves. We have no idea what they might be out of but since we had such luck with the previous one I thought we would try again. There are 4 of the EV13 valves and a single EV512 valve made by the English Electric Valve Company. Any help would be appreciated. 041219 (5) by Mike Feisst, on Flickr Sorry can't help with identifying these valves but I think they are works of art, I think they would make great display pieces.

The team members pushed the Vampire out into the sun today and with a bit of encouragement they managed to give the engine at least two runs. We had the smell of burnt kerosene pervading the hangar for a while but great to see and hear it in action again.
