I have stumbled across a few parts which apparently came from the great Rukuhia scrap yard. Please let me know if you can help identify these parts or have pictures of them in situ thanks. 20190818_130856 by Chris McDell, on Flickr 20190818_130847 by Chris McDell, on Flickr 20190818_130839 by Chris McDell, on Flickr 20190818_130817 by Chris McDell, on Flickr The above pictures are an oil tank as per the data tags, I presume engine oil? It appears to have the remains of a self sealing coating? Obviously Lockheed from the data plates and doesn't seem big enough capacity for the R2800 of a Ventura so I am thinking Hudson? Or maybe something other than engine oil? 2019-08-19_07-46-10 by Chris McDell, on Flickr 2019-08-19_07-46-24 by Chris McDell, on Flickr 2019-08-19_07-46-38 by Chris McDell, on Flickr The above I believe is an exhaust pipe of a Hudson? 2019-08-19_07-47-32 by Chris McDell, on Flickr 2019-08-19_07-47-19 by Chris McDell, on Flickr 2019-08-19_07-47-05 by Chris McDell, on Flickr The above ammo boxes are the same as one that scrooge posted on here some time ago, and I believe no positive I.D. was made. scrooge suggested maybe Lockheed once again. I believe all Hudson armament was .303, these are definitely .50 cal sized so maybe Ventura nose guns? Happy to see these parts go towards any restoration projects if needed, Cheers.

Noting the ammo boxes I had did not have the rollers and feeds off the side, but it looks like they have been removed at some stage.

I collect Hudson and Ventura parts. That would make you the ideal person to positively identify the parts then!?

Sorry but I can only identify parts I either have, or have seen elsewhere. But if they were positively ID'd I may be keen on them if they needed a new home. Denys at Ferrymead would be the guy to verify most bits.

The tank is certainly the right beast visually to be from a Hudson or Lodestar and I'd be surprised if it's not also applicable to Ventura with the possible qualifier that the larger engines in Venturas might have resulted in a bigger tank. The number on the tag is confusing. The Hudson P/N for the tank is 67299-500 but for a model 414 it is 168265, in the Lodestar the manual calls out three numbers 162478, 173450 and 73662 but what the differences are who knows. In the Ventura the P/N is 114304. However here's a view of the tank in the port undercarriage bay of the Hudson where it is forward of the spar. The material on your tank is the remains of the rubber self sealing compound which is underneath the fabric cover here. The exhaust tailpipe isn't Hudson. It's a bit strange with the flange coming out of the bend where it does. That will be for the cabin heat but in the Hudson it exits via the wall of the pipe on the straight. I can't find an illustration of it in my Ventura manual so would plump for that being what your pipe is. The ammo cans seem to be right to be the forward gun ones for the Ventura on the assumption that they were 0.5" as opposed to 0.303" for the Hudson. Here's the ones in situ in NZ2035 they're just forward of the instrument panel behind and above the nav's head. hth
