During the summer the museum has been working with the Nottinghamshire County Council to produce some follow-up material to the two Aviation Memorial booklets that we co-produced with them a few years ago.
This time we agreed on a series of short video interviews that will aim to highlight the more than twenty (20) aviation memorials that can be found right across the county. The first five (5) of these videos are now hosted on YouTube and links to them can be found below.
Providing there is sufficient interest in these short video films we hope to visit and record further interviews at other memorial locations around the county. To support this aim we hope that you might be able to feature these interviews in your publications and on your website. Here’s the first and this memorial has references to New Zealand aviators lost in Nottinghamshire.

Here's the next of the Notts Aviation videos, this time it features RAF Winthorpe, which was the home to 1661 HCU that helped to train many aircrew from New Zealand and Australia.

Thank you for the feedback, we've got a couple more to post over the next day or so. If we can create sufficient interest we may get to film some more and a couple of those have a strong RNZAF connection to Nottinghamshire.
Also in a couple of days we may be able to share some more news that relates to aviation in New Zealand.

The next video that we would like to highlight relates to RAF Balderton, which did host crews and airmen from New Zealand with several units that were based there. Some of their stories are also recounted in the RAF Balderton book that we published a while back called ‘Station of Nations’ www.newarkairmuseum.org/RAF_Balderton_BookRAF Balderton video

For now the final aviation video remembers the crew of a 61 Squadron Lancaster operating out of RAF Syerston, Notts that crashed near Staunton-in-the-Vale
