What aircraft or artefacts are left to see at Point Cook ? I was there about 20 years ago and there was a collection of aircraft , in both outdoor and inside displays . I am going to visit again next week .

Worth a visit. Both internal and external exhibits. They have flying displays during the week which are aimed at people who know 'B-all' about aircraft and flying. The workshop is part of the display area, and features a Mosquito being restored to flying condition. Excellent website gives an idea of what they have. ADF still owns the airfield, but the museum aircraft are the only RAAF assets operational there. There are some lovely pre WW2 buildings also preserved which are worth checking out. Good value too.........think admission is free!

Agreed, well worth a look. Went through four years ago when I was over for Avalon and they had lots of interesting stuff (ranging from Tiger Moth through to Phantom).
Can't remember if there was an admission fee though sorry.
There was also a ground-up B-24 Liberator restoration going on not too far away (near Werribee from memory), as well as the museum at Moorabbin.

Thanks for that , not sure how much time I will have , my son is graduating as an officer in the RAAF and I will be over just for the weekend . 20 years ago I had a look at Moorabin and enjoyed that . The Liberator would be good to see .

Went out there on Saturday: free admission and some great aircraft to see on display.
Will post some photos to compliment the fantastic shots Alex took while he was there.

Hey. first post and all that after a fair while lurking and thought I may have something to contribute to a thread.
Im a regular visitor to Point Cook, and was there early this year and took photos of each of the aircraft currently on display, although not great images I would be happy to post them here. or if its cool ( not sure of the rules here) I can link to another forum where they have already been posted.

JB, The link to another forum where the pics are available would be OK? However I don't make the rules here. Having only a link means if someone does not want to see them then they don't have to download them unnecessarily. I would be interested to know the link. Thanks. Phil.

JB, welcome to the forum mate.
I do make the rules here, and you are welcome to do it either way. I'd personally prefer to see the photos posted here rather than a link, but as you've already done the hard work elsewhere, the link if fully acceptable - so whichever is easier for you, go for it. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Excellent photos JB. Really neat to see.
Incidentally the transport aircraft sitting outdoors in photo 2 is a Bristol Freighter, not a Beverley.

I cannot help but think that the lovely old Dragon on the left of this shot looks like a contented, and rather dignified old gentleman, happy in his retirement at Point Cook.

More nice shots Craig, thanks for sharing them.
Is that Walrus's wing skinned in clear material so visitors can see inside it? How odd on such a beautiful restoration. Usually museums demonstate that with a seperate piece of wing section. It's affective none the less.
What's the white biplane with the Emu on it?
And do they intend to finish off the Catalina by adding its wings later? or will it remain wingless?
