Thanks Craig yes the 767 is becoming rare and I enjoy snapping them while we can. Joe, I was tracking that Dash 8 right from take off and it banked sharply then straightened up so I pushed the button. Not sure why as the wind was coming across from the right. Some more shots: ZK-NEG ZK-OKH ZK-EAM and ZK-FRE HS-TJW V8-RBL ZK-NGE 9V-SWH Sandwiched between two 777 arrivals a mighty Cessna arrives! ;D 9M-MRI YJ-AV1 ZK-NGP ex Air Malta 9H-ADH ZK-NGR ex Air Malta 9H- ADI Colin

Nice shots again Colin. That Bruinei 767, is that a reguler visitor? I dont recall ever seeing it before. I like the Beech and 737 shot.

I really like that green 737, ZK-FRE, it is so refreshingly different and summery.
My two sisters and their boyfriends flew out today for the Cook Islands from Mangere. I hope they get good weather and no coup.
Looking at those photos and the close proximity of the sea, Mangere would have been a prime spot for flying boat operations if they'd stayed in existence as airliners, as well as landplanes.

Nice shots again Colin. That Bruinei 767, is that a reguler visitor? I dont recall ever seeing it before. I like the Beech and 737 shot. Royal Brunei has a daily service now to AKL, used to be 3 days a week. The Beech and FREddy frog came out better than expected as the cold weather helps keep the heat haze away so winter is a good time to shoot the long shots and I wear my ski jacket to keep warm. ;D Colin

Looking at those photos and the close proximity of the sea, Mangere would have been a prime spot for flying boat operations if they'd stayed in existence as airliners, as well as landplanes. You might want to make sure the tide was in like these photos or you could hit a sand bank or should I say mud flat? The tide goes out to about where the wind sock is in some of the photos. There are some large expanses of sand bank / mud flats around the Manukau harbour at low tide. www.airliners.net/photo/Cessna-172R-Skyhawk/1121847/L/Having said that there are some ship movements to the oil terminal just a short distance from the airport. You can see tide out in this shot and ship must be in channel? If there was a need for seaplanes then an area could be developed? Cost might be high? Just increase the departure tax to cover it. ;D www.airliners.net/photo/Air-New-Zealand/Boeing-737-319/1129700/L/www.airliners.net/photo/Polynesian-Airlines/Boeing-737-8Q8/0619939/L/Colin

Love the Air Vanuatu one, and I wish they'd paint all the Air New Zealand planes that wacky green! For the main ones, it looks like the removal of the Pacific Wave (or Pathetic Wave, depending on your thinking), is the only change to the livery for now.

I agree, the Vanuatu 737 is wearing a very clever scheme. The Pacific Wave. Has it also gone from the international fleet or is it only the domestic ones without them? All the new Dash 8's come with the wave. I think the new 737 scheme looks more corporate and cleaner. If they added cheat lines down the fuselages they could almost return to the old days...

Great stuff. Those Tristars were quite large weren't they? I didn't know the RAF still operated them.

Thanks guys. The Tristar had been here a couple of weeks earlier too but I missed it then. Today this beauty left with its famous singer for home. Typical Auckland weather of late sunny one moment and cloudy with rain the next with the emphasis on the rain. ;D Cheers
