Has anyone noticed the new yellow 'no stopping' road markings on Corsair Road at Ardmore? Whoever did the marking must have been on the piss. Hahahaha, down one side the lines are all over the place. Bruce and I had a good chuckle the other day.

Well my visit in December and my visit earlier this week on Monday confirms it, the pies at the Ardmore Cafe are nowhere near as good as they used to be. They are definitely not worth the $5.60 they charge. The pies we bought on Monday looked good in the warmer but when they were served up to us the pastry was decidedly soggy like frozen pies straight from the microwave. Not impressed. I am thinking it must be new people in there? The food used to be excellent there.
We bought sandwiches from there later and they were nice (though again expensive), it was just the pies that disappointed. Has anyone else come to the same conclusion?

The cafe changed hands a few weeks ago, I believe.
From personal experience I can tell you that cafes/restaurants/food bars are really hard long hour seven day work, and operators normally last no more than three years before they sell.

It never ceases to amaze me how Auckland pies are like Auckland houses, far dearer than the rest of the country and usually not as good.

It's like anywhere Dave, the locals know were the good ones are - not that I have pies often. I can't say that I've noticed any changes (other than some fresh faces), but changing pie supplier is a lot easier than changing the made-to-order menu. Anyway, some recent snaps as I get my eye in for Wanaka. If I took it I'd either cut the nose off, the tail off or it would be right in the centre........but blurry!

:-) Nah, not the middle - focus sensor to the immediate right of the central one placed on the back of the engine cowling (good contrast point), and cropped to look nice - you didn't think the camera outputs in that ratio do you?
Thanks for taking her out on a lovely day!
