Superb stuff, it's really good to see a few different types of subjects. The rocket park at Woomera is especially interesting, my late friend Pat Monk who designed the Airtrainer worked previously at Woomera, he may have worked on some of them in the photo.
These photos were taken at the same time. We're at 33,500 feet and the hills look like they're almost level. Cathay flies a route to and from Europe via western China (Urumqi) into Kazakhstan called Y1 and the mountains are very tall. I don't think many other airlines are game to take it on, as the special procedures in case of depressurisation or engine failure are very complex.
You may be able to see on the Nav display that there's a left turn coming shortly - that's to keep us away from the rocks!!
A pretty poor video off the camera of the Indonesian Su-30 and RAAF F-18s doing a flypast. As the hornets were joining on the Sukhoi, the lads all had the HUD tapes running and in Air-to-Air guns with the pipper on and the hammer down, getting some greatest hits footage. Never mind that he was in a 30 degree AOB turn waiting for them to formate on him!
