this was posted on the ARNZ Forum by N booth frat-bros design: Currently under evaluation by the RNZAF is the 'Red Checkers' package, designed and produced with the help of W/O Ty Cochran and a number of other personnel. The package includes the 5 core aircraft of the red checkers including the individual pilots. If the Air Force accept the proposal then the project will be freeware but only available from the RNZAF website. If it is not accepted then it will be cheap payware at around $12 per disc inc postage. I normally avoid doing payware but need to recoup some costs. I will keep you posted in the next few weeks. Since the Red Checkers project I have been working on a pure FSX Strikemaster which is coming along nicely and nearing completion in the texturing and modelling department. Will be moving onto the cockpit and VC panels shortly. As above, I will keep you posted. Thanks for that info. Anyone know of any good FSX Skyhawk freeware or payware models for use in FSX in Vista? RAZBAM Skyhawks will work in FSX in WinXP but not very well at all in Vista. :-(

Further information, such as updates on the progress of the model etc can be found in that thread on the ARNZ X forum. As mentioned in that topic it looks like it'll be for FSX only at this stage. Nice to find another aviation forum by the way

Thanks guys.
Just got word from Nigel that the CT4 is done and all ready to go. Just waiting on the Air Forces approval, or disaproval now.
Some of the guys on ARNZ X, including myself will be setting up a Virtual Red Checkers display team for FSX once this is released.

I believe a few ex-Red Checkers do read the forum, but I don't know about any current ones, maybe.

I just looked at the first display practice of the 2008 Virtual Red Checkers after Ryan (Stingray) who's one of the pilots gave me a heads up that it's on youtube. Totally superb, I loved it. It's almost like watching the real team. Well done guys. I'm looking forward to seeing further displays. Please keep us updated when more footage goes up.
here's the clip (great music too)

Checker 2..Its a bit dodgey at the moment as most people are still coming to grips with the formation thing, and the leader has a tendency to enter loops etc waaaay too slow.but it will come together

Cheers for the comment Dave. Heres another vid, recorded last Saturday I think? :S

I have twice downloaded the FSX CT4E but have found a peculiar problem when trying to run it in FSX the aircraft (regardless of which one of the team you choose) has only one side of the fuselage fully textured the other side is minus the skin colour, the cockpit is sketetal and the wing is missing except for the nav lights, the undercarriage is also missing. I have noted that the file suffixes on the downloaded files in the texture folder are different to the other FSX texture file suffixes
Any ideas?

It would be good to know your OS and Service Pack and the level of FSX you are running (SP) and if you have the Accelerator Pack. My setup shown is in Vista SP1 with FSX only (no accelerator pack) upgraded to Service Pack 2. If your installation matched the graphic below then perhaps hardware/video drivers is an issue?

Are the texture files *.DDS? If you are running a 'vanilla' FSX install (i.e. without service packs) then that may be the problem. Failing that video card drivers.
