A double pronged question here:
Firstly, what became of the two replica Helldivers that were made for the filming of King Kong? Last I heard one was at Hood Aerodrome, where is the other?
Also, some talk has been bandied about that perhaps when Dambusters is completed some of the full scale replica Lancasters might make it into museums. I was thinking, wouldn't it be great to see one backdated to represent an Avro Manchester, and be displayed in a musuem like Hendon to represent the sacrifice of those poor men who had to fly in it to war. A most hated aircraft but noble and brave crews. I reckon it would be a great display for a museum too.

According to Wings Nov 2005 one Helldiver replica was slated to go the AHC, but there were no firm plans for the other. There is one currently in the Old Stick & Rudder Co. hangar in Masterton, which I have always assumed was the one destined for Omaka.

I was under the impression that all the Lancasters completed and were already here . Apparently each aircraft breaks down and is moved in two shipping containers . If I remember the article in the Herald correctly Weta created the master from which an outfit in Otaki(?) made the moulds which were shipped to China where the replicas were made and shipped back .

And several thousand others were made from the moulds which will make their way onto the Chinese black market... Well, that's what usually happens.
