Team NZ won by 39 seconds. 2-0 to NZ, looking good so far... (which is more than you might say for the All Blacks)

The All Blacks looked fine to me. I hope Dan Carter will be ok

Emirates Team New Zealand has won the Louis Vuitton Cup.
I have to admit the past five races were much, much better than the earlier boring races I'd watched. I'm glad I stayed up and watched all five final races.
It looks great to see the boat fying that massive NZ flag and the WINNER banner!

Well done to Team NZ, I watched the race too and it was the best one yet. Now to the Americas Cup...

I would love to see them go 5-zip against Brad and the boys after his cock aragant comments when they won it here a few years ago. then again will it be raced here. The contract apparantely has it in black and white that if we won we would race the first defence here in nz, then if we won again the next defence could be held somehwere else. Emirates would love to race it in Dubai and are pretty sure they would pay a lovely price that would tempt the govenment etc to let them race it over there. I think I would like to see one defence here. I think by having it here instead of europe you are making it harder nad more expensive for european teams to stay away giving us more of a chance to keep it. I think if we won it and won it for the next 2-3 defences it might get a bit boring and common NZers would say, let it go ? maybe maybe if they changed boats to a new type, smaller faster type, no not a catamaran, they tried that. Oh well, we will see by the end of the month what is happening.

I stayed up for the race on Sunday Morning (and have been feeling stuffed for the rest of the week!) and I have to say that the racing stepped up a level for the last series of races. NZ has a very fast boat - the new mainsail they stuck on for the finals seems to be paying dividends, but the Italians put up a good fight - which certainly will help Team NZ when they take on Alinghi. Go the black boat.... hang on, they both are!

I note that Russell Coutts has joined the One Sport commentary team tonight. Good to see him back on a Kiwi boat.

That was quite race last night. I very nearly switched off halfway through in disgust but was gald I stuck with it.
Coutts should become a politician, he almost never answered any of the questions Peter Montgomery put to him simply or directly. Good to see him there though. And how about that CBS anchor woman who made Montgomery speechless - that was priceless!

Its still close but one more loss and its going to be hard for Team NZ to come back. Ever had that sinking feeling?

And tonight, for their grande finale, shall we expect to see their famous cracking mast trick?
They were doing very well till that tear, and then it became a debacle. Amazing how much they caught up at the end though. I really hope they do better tonight, and Alinghi has the problems...

Its been great racing in this last series, great for spectators, but as Grant Dalton said, they didnt go there just to "Race well" . Well done both crews though.

I see the Government has already pledged NZ$10 million to the next campaign.
A bit bloody rich when the poor old New Zealand Coast Guard, who actually do something for the country's maritime welfare, cannot get funding. They had to go public to shame the Govt for not fronting up with the desperately needed NZ$1.5 million to replace their ancient boats. Shame on Labour I say.

Agreed! the problem is that there are less cameras on a coastguard boat - Helen likes her media coverage.
