At last the harvest is over so there is time for some modelling. The fuselage has been closed and the top wings have been glued in place. The wheel well has been cleaned up and detailed with a little plumbing after a visit to check over the Hendon example.

Got a little bit more done today. I am now embarking on the finishes which is the least certain aspect of the model. Working from the one photo I have which only shows a portion of fuselage, cockpit and wing root I have resorted to the most likely standard finishes of the day. topsides ready for painting Undersides with a 'modified' Sky colour to represent an early tint shortly after this colour was adopted as the standard underside clour. Undercarriage ready for fitting.

Thats an interesting way of doing the undercarriage. I usually paint delicates on the sprue, but I haven't seen anyone build on the sprue before. Is it much extra hassle to detach the assembly when its done?
I look at some of the builds in the magazines and wonder how they paint anything at times. A lot of cokpit and undercarriage builds you see published appear to be painted after assembly.
Very nice work all round by the way.

Guys generally thanks for the compliments, the encouragement makes it very rewarding. Mumbles, I quite often build up small sub assemblies on the sprue, it depends on how confident I am that the finished units will fit. Tamigawajimi and some of the newer Revell kits can be relied upon but older kits are a different matter. The secret to making it work as you have guessed is seperating the finished work from the sprue and for this I have some very fine sidecutters which have been ground to cut a flush face. And now for the finished article. There is a fair amount of gross ignorance filling in the gaps as to how the aircraft actually appeared. The model has been based on the one photograph I have found of the actual aircraft.

Beautiful model, the Hurricane has to be one of my favourite all time aeroplanes. Your attention to detail is amazing.

Now then Mr. Fox,
It will be there and with a lot of luck I will also have a Typhoon [ZJ910] to provoke the locals.
