"November 1999: A Hawker Hunter jet crashed at Williams Gateway airport in Arizona, USA after the engine failed immediately after takeoff. The pilot, ex-Blue Angel Larry "Hoss" Pearson, suffered a fractured vertebrae, but is expected to make a full recovery. Pearson's passenger, crew chief Terry Daubner, suffered only minor injuries. The aircraft apparently "shed engine parts" as it took off, then plowed through a fence and a flood-control canal. It took rescue crews over an hour to rescue the two men."
