Anyone know if there is one planned? Can't find any references to it anywhere.

The schedule for RNZAF airshows and appearances is not normally formulated till after the New Year. The past two years Sqn Ldr Glenn Davis has kindly sent me the list for the year ahead, so hopefully we'll get one for 2009 too when it's ready.

According to the airspace notification chart on the back of the latest Vector magazine there is an Air Show at Whenuapai on 21st March and an airshow at Wigram on 8th February (same weekend as the SAA fly in at Ashburton) Not sure how Wigram works though!

The Wigram show will be the last flying event there prior to the airfield closing forever. The show is being organised by the RNZAF Museum so lets hope it actracts a lot of support from all over NZ. That weekend is also a long one - Waitangi Weekend.

same day as this: NZ Open Helicopter Championship 2009 21st March 2009 - North Shore Airfield Starting 8.30am to 5.30ish After an enormously successful event held in March 2008, we are delighted to announce the new date for the 2009 competition. Our aim has always been to build the event into a truely competitive and fun competition that encourages all helicopter pilots to have a go, we believe that you won't be disappointed!!! We are also delighted that the competition has been recognised by the sports governing body the FAI CIG, as a category 2 event, which truely puts it in on the world stage. 2008 proved a challenge for both organisers and competitors, but with the complete World Games format and the exciting Bottle Opening event taking place, North Shore Airfield was the place to be for pilots and spectators alike. Dependant on competitors, the airfield will be closed for major sections throughout the day and there will also be a post competition and prize giving BBQ with some major sponsors coming on board once again to kindly support the event. Spectators will be very welcome to come and have a look at these great machines perform in what has become a unique annual event in the southern hemisphere. There will be a 25 team limit so book your place now to avoid disappointment. If you want to get up close to these great machines, sign up to be one of the voluntary judges and be a real part of the days action. It really is going to be another amazing day and you could be part of something very special which only happens in the southern hemisphere....right here!!! So send your application in now and look forward to seeing you in March!! www.helitraining.co.nz/Events/Upcoming-Events/NZ-World-Helicopter-Championship/MenuId/56.aspx

Apparently there will be enough grass still owned by the RNZAF (or is that the Museum trust board?) to be used by the Airtrainers. I believe they have said they will continue to use it until the houses get too close! This was in a recent "Press" (local paper) and it mentioned that once the land is returned the remainder still owned by the Airforce/Museum Trust board is the same land (or the same size at least) as that given by Sir Henry Wigram. Can anyone confirm this? Baz

I note the price has doubled, but if it's as good as the 2007 airshow there, it's still great value for money.

I guess bringing the car racing back is a way for the RNZAF to save money.
I wonder if anything will be attending from the RAAF this year?

Spose' your right - the RNZAF have a busy display calendar this year. Im a motorsport fan but if the cars are just gonna be on static display you wont see me looking at them. I go to an airforce base and expect some action in the air

Can anyone confirm this? Baz Yes there is enough grass to land and takeoff, but this wont happen because there is not enough clearance around the outside. We had a couple of trainers try a while ago but it was not safe. The land that will remain is around the same size as the land gifted by Sir henry Wigram. Dosnt make it right though.....
