An AESL Airtourer ZK-CWA is for sale on Trademe for $45000. Looks quite spectacular in its bright green colour. Does anyone have any photos of this one in previous colour schemes.

The original NAC/ANZ Flying Club livery was quite nice, based on the Air New Zealand scheme of that time - white and two-tone blue. ZK-CWA seen at Auckland International 2Mar1968 after delivery 22Feb:

That green and gold scheme is a crime against aviation....

Great photos, Peter. Pity we didn't have colour back then.

We did, but on $46.00 a week I couldn't afford that luxury.

you'll need your eyes tested Yosif if you think that is canary yellow... and if someone wants to call it Australian Gold they're welcome to it, as long as they buy it and take it trans-tasman.

Those pics are in Kaitaia, wouldn't be surprised at all if that's where they paint scheme was dreamed up...

Did any Air New Zealand aeroplanes (actual airliners) ever fly in that TEAL scheme under the Air New Zealand banner? I've never seen a photo of any in that scheme and assume all the aircraft were painted before the change of name? Certainly a neat scheme for that Airtourer. I think the green and gold is quite striking too.

Some of the DC-8s wore that scheme I believe, including the one that crashed at Auckland during a training flight.

I actually like the colourful airtourer schemes - They are the sort of "cute" machine that can get away with outlandish schemes and look cool!

We almost missed it . . .
Happy Birthday - Happy Birthday
The very first Airtourer VH-FMM first flew in April 1959.
50 years ago this month.

Wow, how time flys. 50 years, seems hard to believe but I suppose thats right. I remember my first lesson in the Airtourer, ZK CFJ with instructor Mike Foster back in the early 1960s so thats over 40 years ago. Must be getting old.

I guess the Airtourer is the only Australian design to be still flying in significant numbers after 50 years? Even if many of those flying are NZ redesigned versions, with more powerful engines.

Another Airtourer, a Victa 115 has just appeared on Trademe, which needs finishing. Looks good in the photos. Will check its registration and post it tomorrow.

Look forward to your advice re its registration.....This one may be interesting, seems it is c/n 151, ex ZK-CMB wich was rebuilt before going to FIJI as VQ-FBD/DQ-FBD. It was reported to go to Tonga, about mid-late 1986 for the defence force there...Any additional history/photos would be welcomed.
