Hi all I finished Airfix’s 1/72 Hawker Sea Fury FB. 11 in the well known colors of “Hoagy" Carmichael Fury as flown by him in August 1952. The plastic is thick, soft and of a rough texture. Not the standard Airfix type plastic I have come to know so well over the years. When built the model feels more like a toy then a detailed scale model. Must be a new run or some other companies moulds. The kit goes together very nicely and has no catches. The biggest drawback of the model though is the thick decals that refused to “bend” over the wings leading edges. This is the second Airfix model I have built of late that suffers from substandard decals!!! And yes I know I overdid the exhaust staining but was in a hurry to get her finished so I could work on the Bearcat. Moral of the story. When making models; take your time!!!

Nice work Marcus. There is a kiwi link too, as this is the colour scheme the NZ Sea fury ZK-SFR was painted in when it was flying here.

I believe this kit is a rebox of the PM kit which may explain your feelings about it . Having said that it still looks the part .
