i do clearly remember the 727 coming in on the eastern approch at low altitude ,but not seeing it land ,so you may be right there dave in regards to a touch and go? the photos of the mu-2 now in nz for the RNZAF, it looks rather alot different than phillips search and rescue trusts 1 based at hamilton-alot shorter, for memory , phillips is longer through the tail section? when i am back at work, i will make a point of taking a photo of it .

That MU2 in Gavin's photo is certainly shorter looking than the Hamilton based example. Stubby!

the MU2 operating from Hamilton by Phillips Search and Rescue Trust, is indeed an extended version that Mitsubishi bought out specifically for aero-medical operations. Thanks wikipedia.

Fugly little buggers aren't they! The anti-cols look the same as the Skyhawk's - I know where they can find plenty of spare parts for them

Neat photos Gavin. I think they're quite cool looking. All they need is kiwi roundels.
Did anyone take note of who the pilots were so we don't have the situration like the long discussion we had here of who flew the Boeing 727's to NZ?

Some more pics of the MU2's at Woodbourne. New RNZAF registrations will be 0222G - 0225G And some of the Seasprites still in their wrapping... Sorry I don't have any serial number info yet.

Certainly looks like the display for a ALR-66. A quick google search shows that the SH-2 LAMPS 1 was fitted with the ALR-66 (VE) or (V)1 variant. Bet it had better performance than ours!!

Exactly! SH-2F (as being delivered to GTW) was designated as LAMPS 1
