Something quite spiritual about this photo of Doug's spitfire at Omaka. Perhaps 'the man' was looking down...? (RNZAF Official)

Well that makes a whole bunch of sense flyjoe thanks. Also an earlier post in this thread stated that: With reference to the numbers on the doors, they are the Frigate pennant number assigned to each ship the wasps were attached to. They are RN dervied numbers as the RNZN frigates were considered part of a commonwealth naval squadron should any large scale ware break out. There were a set of doors painted with individual numbers and when a particular wasp was deployed to a frigate the doors were changed to suit the number of the ship! Saved a lot of painting!

Wasp 01 & 04 following their respective endings. A fair proportion of these two aircraft are resident at Don's place and make up part of his overall Wasp collection.

Brilliant shots Marty, many thanks mate. What is that helmet that Sean Perrett is wearing? Did he bring that from the UK or have our fighter pilots got new helmets? Dave, Sean confirms that the helmet he uses is an ex RAF 'Alpha' model and painted grey. Has provenance as it served with him on a Harrier Sqn.
