Here is my latest effort, it is the Magna 1/48th scale Sea devon as NZ1813. The kit is a confirmed tail sitter even thought the nose and everything forward of the CoG is packed with lead shot. The markings are from the spare box and from some RNZAF markings Pete Mossong created for his trip to telford in 2005. Not my best effort by a long way but where else are you going to get a devon in 1/48th scale?

It contaiuns markings for NZ6361, but not the real thing but a UK based warbird which was an ex Kenyan MK87. The aerial fit is also wrong for a Blunty, but the right ones may well be in the box.
John Adams has also announced he is re-issuing his Blunty kit early next year.

thanks for the help in deciphering the pictures of '151. I 'finished' her but I'm not happy with the serial size. I used a set for this machine from a local supplier, but think there are a lot of issues so I'm going to strip it back later and use stock decals. It is the old Smer/Merit kit complete with raise lines to show decal placement. so lots of rubbing down and filling was needed to start with. Not my finest hour by any means. Thanks for looking

Thanks guys, I think I'm conviced that NZ151 was overall aluminum and the two photos were taken on the same sortie. I'm happy with a single, but weathered scheme as time is tight for Telford.
Once again thatnks for taking the time to respond.

I'm building a SMER Walrus as part of the IPMS(UK) NZ Aviation SIGs 75th Anniversary of the RNZAF display at Telford this year, I settled on NZ151, ex- L2222 as I have a clear picture of her in Darbys RNZAF the First Decade. This photo dated 1945 and caption as flying over Birkdale, looks to show her in two toned uppers, with a light coloured Hull all the way up to the top.
So far so good. But are the colours Dark Sea Grey/Slate Grey with Sky lower surfaces or Dark Green/Pacific Blue?
However I also have in my possession an RNZAF Museum photo of NZ151 dated 1944 showing what is the same aircraft in a worn overall silver scheme. It also looks to be taken over the same area as the first photo. This now raises doubts as to my interpretation of the picture in the Darby book
So my question is was NZ151 repainted, if so when and what colour. She was overall silver as L2222.
I need to get this model finished by 10th November for the display and any help would be gratefully received.

Dewobz, The bombbay closed pretty easily. I attached theinner pieces to the fuselage thenone they were set I added the outer doors. I used a shim of vey thin plasticard in the middle to seal the joint but it was no big deal. '16 see below. I hope Malcolm Laird will consider her on a future sheet.
Northcro. Quite right about the wheels I have a couple of sets winging its way to me. I planned to do NZ4516 which didn't have covers in the photo I was using. I then found my artistic skills were not up to painting the nose art as planned.
It is a great kit as far as fit is concerned and I hope to do a couple more.

My latest attempt using the Revell of Germany boxing of the Ventura. The markings are from Zotz though I replace the heavily faded top wing roundel as it appears far too light to my eyes. I am aware that no Dark Blue outline appeared on the wing roundel of NZ4540, I became aware after it became impossible to move! Kit out of the box, with the co-pilots position removed, Vector propellors and Ultracast wheels Thanks for looking

dewobz, I reckon you have it spot on.
We are also doing a NZ Aviation SIG 75th Anniversary display/ group build in 1/48th for Telford 2012. I'm finishing my Ventura as NZ4516 and then have a Kiwi Resins CT-4E to do. We hope to cover from the first Bleriot to the Airtrainer unless an A.109 or NH90 comes available!

That is a great model, I was going to do the same one using the same picture but mine could never be as good. Mine is mainly assembled and ready for primer.
Did you close the bombbay? if so how did it fit?
