Thanks aeromedia for confirming that the pod made it to Wanaka. The pod has been identified as ex RAN XA167 as per ADF Serials. Regards Ron

I photographed these Vampire wings and booms at the National Transport & Toy Museum at Wanaka on 1/4/23. I forgot to check under that boom for an identity so I'll be grateful if anyone can identify the aeroplane. I couldn't find a fuselage pod anywhere.

I understand that Chewing Gum Field was so named because chewing gum was often used for field repairs in the day. The Ventura was a fuselage only having had the "Farm Shed Mod" postwar. The aircraft is now at the Queensland Air Museum: www.qam.com.au/qam-content/aircraft/ventura/A59-96.htm

Thanks Aussie Bob for going to the trouble of finding that image. I was hoping for a shot on NZ or Australian soil however. Thanks anyway.

I'm looking for a photo of TriStar G-BHBO which carried Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland. The aircraft arrived from Brisbane on 01FEB90 and returned to Brisbane on 16FEB90. If anyone can assist I will be much obliged. Regards Ron

Thanks everyone for your responses. NZ4206 was photographed with the "KZ06" markings at RAAF Edinburgh in November 1986. The aircraft was participating in the Fincastle Trophy competition so I suppose that adds another dimension to it.

I guess that is what they were getting at but the sum of the parts does not make sense, unless there was a KZ06. I believe the competing yacht was KZ07.

How's this for a zombie thread?
Speaking of NZ4206, in late 1986 the aircraft was photographed with the letters KZ crudely applied in front of the numbers 06 on the nose. I believe this refers to an NZ sail number for the America's Cup challenger elimination races then in progress off Perth. I'm unable to find any reference to a yacht with the sail number KZ06 so what was the exact significance of the marking on NZ4206?

Just like the good old days. Here we all are huddled around the "wireless" monitoring their progress.

G-GBNZ arrived safely in Caloundra, Queensland this afternoon. If winds are favourable tomorrow they may depart for Lord Howe Island direct.

The Ceres went to WONZer curtiss, and after he sold it to Aussie (from my last link above): From "A Consolidated History of The Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation CA28 Ceres Agricultural Aircraft - V2.0 Jan 2014" by Peter Reardon ZK-BPU: "On 16 May 2007, Paul Wheeler advised that this project, which is now located at the Queensland Air Museum (QAM), Caloundra, is a composite of two Ceres: CA28-4 (VH-CED/ZK-BPU) and CA28-9 (VH-CEL/ZK-BZO). It is believed therefore, that the windscreen, canopy and rear hatch on the QAM fuselage section probably came from one or both of these aircraft." The above quote would appear to have been taken from the Queensland Air Museum website which states: Please note the significant difference. Paul Wheeler's project was claimed to be in Queensland not at the Queensland Air Museum. For the record, QAM does hold the cockpit section of Ceres msn 28-19 which is now identified as VH-CEU. Is the airport authority that determined to recover what I assume to be accrued storage charges? That $50K would go a long way towards transport and shipping. Has anyone tried to bring some political pressure to bear to waive the charges and gift the airframe?
