Missed that thread. Typical of this hobby, you famine for years wishing a subject would come along and then all of a sudden your swamped with options.
Probably would get 3 kitty hawk examples for 1 top gun price!

Those wanting an easy build RNZAF/RNZN Seasprite without having to covert the Marchbox kit, Top Gun Models of Poland have a 1/48 Resin SH-2G coming onto the market.
No New Zealand decals (only Polish at this stage),but nice to see a modern version of this New Zealand subject coming available.
Bad news, not cheap at 83 euros.

I have never enjoyed the presence of a hovering Hughes 500 after that movie. One question though, what was Savalas actually going to dust out in the bare moonscape of the desert?

Also, one operator in the US has converted his Air Tractor into the film's main character, which rightly so is an ag plane. After all, they fertilise and spray the ground that the world eats off and would easily get off a carrier without the cat

Wasn't one made in the Queenstown region (again) using the Super Air dual ZK-EGX? This movie was called 'Wild Blue', information is here www.nzvideos.org/wildblue.html. randomly saw this movie in Abu Dhabi, a bit of a hollow film really...

Thanks Dave, appreciate your comments My wedding vehicle was John Spence of Airfarm's CRF. As the wedding was on the top of the airstrip on the farm in Otorohanga, I was able to fly in and John was able to swing by after a job in the morning and fly us out so we could fly back in. CRF on the tiedowns outside the farm house as I get ready. Cockpits a bit busier than our old 400, GPS is certainly prominent. Leaving Te Kuiti Bit overdressed for the loaders seat!

A bit of an update on my two Airtruks. I am doing them side by side, one as VH-JSO (the ex ZK-DVN) that my old man flew and Hamish Ross' late model machine. Because the masters are based on a late model airtruk, I had to backdate one of them by changing the front of the cowl and the engine access panels to include the three small cooling vents. To do this I did another rough home-made etch. I have used some of the parts off the etch so it looks a bit chopped. I thinned the access doors to a more scale width and added some etch to represent the inserts in the doors. Painted with floquil reefer white and washed with a flory wash. This is the back of the airtruk, I scratch built the seat supports, the internal framing and added a small etched fire axe and some eduard seat belts. Cockpit details were also added onto. The neatly cast instrument panel was painted and then added to with some tiny Mike Grant instrument decals. The rudder pedals were thinned and then detailed with copper wire. Hopper and flap levers were made from fuse wire and the throttle quadrant was made from my own etch. I added a small fire extinguisher and a radio set. The seat is the cast one painted and added to with eduard harnesses. The production line, drying and awaiting their roofs. The fuselage pods are not much bigger than my thumbs and look a bit roughly finished. The fletcher is still on the bench, just trying to get the second hood back to where it was in my last progress update. Cheers Mike

The Zlin Z37T's were new build aircraft, not conversions. The Z137T was the new build that followed on with only minor changes to the Z37T. yes you are right on delictman, they Zlin's were built in three groups and like the Fletcher had different blocks with different enhancements and the like. The Z-37T I believe came out in the early 1980's when Walter developed a suitably low torque version of the M-601 and the Zlin Z-137 I believe was only a redesignation placed in those airframes late in the final production. many would have been produced though as I believe their total airframe life was limited to 3000hrs... so many would have been new builds and not conversions as delictman stated

I always keep an eye on Czech modelling sites as it does seem to be a hub of modelling intelligentsia and they also seem to do a lot of civilian subjects as well. I have always thought the Zlin 37 (a few of which were imported here as either turbo conversions or Z-137T's) is an interesting design. It looks like an oversize Agricola and I always thought the shapes would be a good project for a new to the scene scratch builder so out of interest I plugged model Z-37 cmelak into the search engine and came across this amazing build. Text is all Czech but the 43 pages of the thread have some amazing photos which I am sure some will enjoy. www.modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=63885

Great work Calum! Gee those markings look great and the finish without decal film, silvering and other issues means this will have a lovely finish. Hope to see it in a local show here some time.

Nice Craig, I was out a Bankstown today but I couldn't see the old engineer at the AirAg hangar who used to work on these. Reading through your thread however it seems your contacts are probably more useful. That seat looks like a fun metalwork project for an apprentice looking for some practical experience. Good luck and great interview as well mate.

Still working on my fletcher however I also have a 1/72 scale F-18C Hornet on the table. In 2008 I visited Meringen Air Force base in Switzerland and was entranced with the access to the airfield, the proximity you can get to operating jets and the frequency at which they move around. I am doing the NATO Tiger special paintwork that was applied to J-5011 in 2007. The 1/72 Hasegawa Hornet is simple but aged and as much as I was not going to do much to it, I have built the wings so I can 'unbuild' them so the slats and flaps can be down. I also am working on an Aires cockpit for it and would like to try some of the Eduard per coloured etch. As I heard Anthony mention on his Wings Over New Zealand show, sometimes you need some new plastic in the bench to freshen your perspective and it certainly moves quicker than my fletcher!
I also have the Hasegawa F-14a Iranian Tomcat in the box on the bench corner. I read Tom Cooper's Iranian F-14 Units in Combat a while ago and have been fascinated with their history and use in that service since. Might add a different F-14 to the model show table as well, last show I went to had 5 models with 'jolly rogers' CAG decals on them which made it hard to stand out from the crowd!

A bit of a delay on this one lately. Unfortunately I lost the canopy I was working on in the pictures you have seen before. I believe plastic fatigue was probably responsible or I may have had it too close to a solvent source on one of the ridiculously hot days we have had in Sydney of late. Disappointment meant I reverted back to a childlike like temper tantrum.
A few beers and a couple of days away and I pulled another canopy and have spent a month building a new framework with brass rod and brass strip. I am getting back to where I was before. No real update but I thought I would let those interested know it is still on the workbench, my Everest if you will!

Glad to see that someone out there perseveres until they get a result. I would consider myself keen on one as well Zac if that gets your numbers over the mark.
I must finish my own one first but!
