Hi there, I am thinking about joining the airforce but I have no idea what job I would suit. Any suggestions please let me know. Those who have been in the rnzaf will have some helpful information for me. A few details about me that might help your suggestions:
- I am very fit and like a physical challenge (I like to be active and play sports). - I am a natural leader - I step up when no one else will. - I am creative - I have a masters in counselling, I have worked with youth my whole life - I am not the best at maths or details - although I am willing to learn. - I dont want to sit behind a desk all day. - I would like to do some trips overseas but not all the time like a flight steward. - I am 33 years old.
Please help!
thanks

Hi there, I am 33 and mid career and thinking about joining the airforce. I understand a lot of people sign up when they are straight out of school or at the start of their career. What I would love to hear is - how it has been for those who have joined at an older age such as mid 30's. I am aware I will have to let go of all my pride as I will be a lot older than my seniors, I will be taking a pay cut, I will have no say over where I am posted, I will have to do a lot of things that won't make rational sense. I will have to let go of a lot and start from scratch.
What appeals to me about the airforce is the challenge. The opportunity to learn something new, the travel and the sports opportunities. I also have a partner in the airforce, so I wonder how that will affect our relationship also. I have only ever done one thing, so I would be stepping out of my comfort zone majorly. I just want to know Im making the right choice.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.
